Commissioned to produce 2 Augmented Reality experiences as part of the 'Platinum Jubilee exhibition' creating a unique, comprehensive & representative display of 70 years of Caribbean contributions to British history.
With the support of the Let’s Create Jubilee Fund grant from The London Community Foundation, in partnership with Arts Council England, Elimu was able to support young creatives including me with bursary support funding.
OPPORTUNITY
This project commemorates & educates Londoners on Caribbean icons' personal stories using immersive technologies in an exhibition setting, with the theme of Memories, Milestones & Messages.
The first narrative is a short minimalistic animation exploring ideas of self-identity from Linett Kamala's calligraphy artwork, and the second narrative is a short docu-film under the influence of Tailoring Mastero Andrew Ramroop, OBE who gives an exclusive look at one of his prized pieces from his 20year+ suit collection.
RESULT
This resulted in diverse audiences benefiting from an engaging and delightful understanding of untold Caribbean stories in the UK, beyond defining its presence by a ship and getting to learn about the lived experiences of individuals during the reign of Her Majesty, not as victims, as settlers, migrants, contributors & achievers.
